Think about one of your favorite brands for a moment. Take a second and mull over what it is that you like about them. As you were replaying what it is that you like about that brand in your mental cinema what kind of stories did you see? Was it about a good experience? Maybe it was about that one tool that you used for that one project where everything really just worked. Maybe it was an awesome stunt that soft-drink sponsored or that cool car from that movie you saw as a kid. Or maybe about that one time where a horrible day was averted thanks to some great customer service. We form these stories about virtually every brand and service that we remember.
A brand is defined as the "name, term, design, symbol, or any other feature that identifies one seller's goods or service as distinct from those of other sellers" by the The American Marketing Association. Your brand identity is composed of those items combined with the stories that your customers tell themselves when they think about your brand.
